Linfoma mediastinal em felino: Relato de caso

Abstract

Lymphoma is the most common hematopoietic neoplasm in cats, has aggressive behavior and multifactorial ethiology; however, retrovirus infections such as feline viral leukemia and feline immunodeficiency are one of the main predisposing factors. The most common clinical signs of the mediastinal form are dyspnea and pleural effusions. The diagnosis is made based on the history, clinical signs, physical examination, and imaging tests. The recommended treatment is multidrug therapy, the objective being the remission of clinical signs and quality of life for the patient. The objective of this study was to report the case of a one-year-old male feline diagnosed with mediastinal lymphoma, treated at the Clínica Escola Veterinária, who had severe dyspnea and pleural effusions. The treatment of choice was the COP protocol, which includes the drugs cyclophosphamide, vincristine and prednisone. The patient had a good response to chemotherapy, with remission of clinical signs and reduction of the intrathoracic mass, presenting himself in good general condition.O linfoma é a neoplasia hematopoiética mais comum em gatos, possui comportamento agressivo e etiologia multifatorial, contudo as infecções por retrovírus, como a leucemia viral felina e a imunodeficiência felina são um dos principais fatores predisponentes. Os sinais clínicos da forma mediastinal mais comuns são dispneia e as efusões pleurais. O diagnóstico é feito com base no histórico, sinais clínicos, exame físico e exames de imagem. O tratamento preconizado é a poliquimioterapia, sendo que o objetivo é a remissão dos sinais clínicos e qualidade de vida ao paciente. O objetivo do trabalho foi relatar o caso de um felino, de um ano de idade, macho, diagnosticado com linfoma mediastinal, atendido na Clínica Escola Veterinária, que apresentava dispneia intensa e derrames pleurais. O tratamento de escolha foi o protocolo COP, que inclui os fármacos ciclofosfamida, vincristina e prednisona. O paciente obteve uma boa resposta à quimioterapia, ocorrendo a remissão dos sinais clínicos, e redução da massa intratorácica, apresentando-se em bom estado geral.
