Abstract

L asparaginase inhibited the hyperacute form of EAE in rats. The inhibition was inversely proportional to the intensity of the eliciting immunization. Passive transfer experiments proved that at least part of the inhibition was related to effects on the fully immunized lymphoid cells and its interaction with the neutral target. The inhibition was caused by specific enzyme activity and not by endotoxin contamination or non specific stress.
