Abstract

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are low-molecularweight proteins with a wide spectrum of activity against microbial pathogens. Antimicrobial peptides are amphipathic. Antimicrobial peptides include defensins, cathelicidins, granulysin, S-100 proteins, and a variety of other antimicrobial proteins. Antimicrobial peptides play a role in acne, wound healing, psoriasis, and atopic dermatitis. © 2008 Springer London.
