Abstract
A description is given of digital filtering and pattern recognition methods that implement an automated detection algorithm for passive Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) remote sensing data. The digital filtering step allows spectral information to be extracted from the interferogram data without the use of the Fourier transform. The detection is performed with only a 76-point segment of the FTIR interferogram, thereby simplifying the data collection requirements of the spectrometer. © 1991.
