Abstract

Among the degenerative diseases of the spinal column, lumbar disc prolapse occupies a special position as regards diagnosis and treatment. Myelography is important for the planning of the surgery, which is indicated absolutely in cases of paresis, but only relatively in case of chronic, refractory pains. A followup by questionnaire of a personal material of 91 disc operations between 1976 and 1978 revealed good to very good results in 74% of the cases.
