Abstract

Single and bi-doped materials, viz. La, Y and Nb, present at both A and B sites of SrTiO 3 have been synthesized and tested as anode material in electrolyte supported SOFC. The cell performance of bi-doped anode material e.g., L 0.4 Y 0.2 Sr 0.4 TiO 3 (LYST) and La 0.4 Sr 0.6 Ti 0.9 Nb 0.1 O 3 (LSTN) found to be higher than single-doped anode e.g., La 0.4 Sr 0.6 TiO 3 (LST) and SrTi 0.9 Nb 0.1 O 3 (STN). 20 wt % Ni-YSZ addition to LYST and LSTN increased the cell performance from 23 mW/cm 2 to 77 mW/cm 2 and 25 mW/cm 2 to 38 mW/cm 2 , respectively. LYST-Ni-YSZ anode gave the maximum power density 70 mW/cm 2 , which is stable for 60 h of operation. Physical characterizations e.g., SEM, XRD and TEM of anode materials were investigated to correlate performance of different anodes.
