Crohn's disease of the esophagus

Abstract

Crohn's disease may involve any part of the gastrointestinal tract. However, the esophagus is rarely affected. A case of Crohn's disease involving both esophagus and colon is reported. In Crohn's disease distal ileum and colon are most commonly affected, whereas cases involving the esophagus are quite rare. We describe a young patient who presented with dysphagia, odynophagia and mucous diarrhea. She was diagnosed as having Crohn's disease based on clinical, endoscopic and microscopic findings.
