Abstract
Copepods are basically small crustaceans that are holoplanktonic and have life cycle stages. The role of copepods in marine aquatic ecosystems is vital as a natural source of nutrition for various types of marine organisms, and regulating dangerous plankton population densities. This study aims to determine the effect of optimal salinity on the density of copepods (Oithona Sp.). The study was conducted during December 2018-February 2019 in Sundak Aquaculture Work Unit of Gunungkidul Regency. This study used a complete randomized design (CRD) using 3 treatments and 4 replications. The three treatments were salinity 10 ppt, 20 ppt and 30 ppt. The container used was a jar with a volume of 3 L placed on the experimental shelf. Culture was carried out with an initial density of 1 ind / ml. Calculation of density was carried out in each salinity treatment. The growth rate of copepods Oithona sp. was determined based on the density in the maintenance period, then the density results were used to determine the total weight of the feed. Data on density of Oithona sp. analyzed using The Kruskal Wallis test showed that the salinity treatment had a difference (0,000 <0,05) to the density of Oithona sp. However, the highest density results in treatment B (20 ppt) with a final density value of 59466,7 ind /2L
