Abstract
Improve the ability of understanding mathematical concepts in line with the new paradigm of learning mathematics. Based on pre-survey the authors conducted an interview with one of the VIII grade mathematics teacher MTs Negeri 2 Bandar Lampung and the teacher said that in the learning process is still doing an expository or teacher-centered learning. Learners appear less active, tend to hear or record delivered by the teacher so that learning only goes one way only. This situation strongly demonstrates that the ability to understand the concept and communication of learners is still low. With the minimum criterion criterion standard (KKM) that is equal to ≥ 70, only 8 of 26 students of class VIIIA complete and 8 of 25 students class VIIIB thoroughly. This can be caused by the low ability of students' mathematical understanding of learners in the learning process that has not run well. This study aims to see the effect of learning with heuristic vee strategy on the ability of understanding mathematical concepts of students of class VIII MTs Negeri 2 Bandar Lampung. This method of writing uses posttest-only design. The results showed that there is influence of learning with heuristic vee learning strategy on the ability of understanding mathematical concepts of students of class VIII MTs Negeri 2 Bandar Lampung. It is also seen in the result of learning mathematics of students who applied learning by using Heuristic Vee learning strategy higher than the average of mathematics learning outcomes that do not use Heuristic Vee learning strategy.
