Abstract
With the emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT), an increasing need for preserving the privacy of personal data has been realized. In this context, the EU has recently published the general data protection regulation (GDPR), which ensures strengthening of the privacy rights of the data subjects concerning their personal data. In this paper, we present the importance of having a holistic solution aimed towards the enforcement of the GDPR. As a first step towards the enforcement of the GDPR, we present the research challenges in facilitating the erasure of data as per the right to erasure. We also propose the envisaged technical solutions to work through the challenges.
