Abstract

Changes in the outlook on management of oral health and dental disease have developed over decades for both dental professionals and the public but now is the time for these changes to be implemented in practice. Minimum intervention is concerned with preventing disease rather than restoring teeth and attitudes towards remuneration and financial rewards for restorative operative intervention need to be addressed if dentistry is to reflect these new ideas of best practice. © 2013 Macmillan Publishers Limited.
