Emotional regulation difficulties in patients with emotional disorders: Preliminary outcomes from a comparative study

Abstract

The article provides preliminary results from a research aimed to evaluate emotional regulation strategies used by patients with emotional disorders (ED). A group of patients with Emotional Disorders were compared to a control group regarding the presence of emotional regulation difficulties. Compared with the control group, patients with ED presented greater difficulties in the Acceptance of Emotional responses and less Emotional Clarity. On the other hand, a high correlation between the lack of Acceptance of Emotional responses and severity of the depressive symptoms was found (r = .75; p
