Abstract

The article discusses research which investigated changes in ambulatory emergency care utilization and unplanned hospitalizations in Germany from 2010 to 2019. Topics explored include the observed decline in ambulatory emergencies in hospitals, the continuous increase in unplanned hospital admissions, and the need to resolve problems of overburdened emergency departments.
