Abstract

© 2014, Universidad del Norte. All rights reserved. The overall objective of this article is to reflect about the challenges of the tourism sector to promote gender equality and empowerment of women. Emphasises the feminization of poverty as a key dimension of analysis to sustainability in tourism. Through the mains results of the project about child sex exploitation in tourism of the Foundation Terres des Hommes-Lausanne in Cartagena de Indias in Colombia, are noted some of the issues to keep in mind to the development of tourism from a gender perspective.
