Abstract
A series of 40 cases of complete repair of Fallot's tetralogy undertaken over a 2 yr period is presented. No hospital mortality was encountered in this small series and there was one late death in a patient with absent left pulmonary artery and increased pulmonary vascular resistance requiring re operation four months after the initial total repair. The operative technique has varied slightly between different surgeons in the Department, but the overall approach of adequate relief of right ventricular outflow tract obstruction, careful preservation of myocardial function during cardio pulmonary bypass and conscientious post operative management has produced good operative results. The age range of patients was from 2 to 42 yr and the postoperative complications in this short period of follow up, apart from the one late death, have been minimal.
