Abstract

Social clouds bring social networking and cloud computing together. Realizing the value of social clouds and its potential market growth, many companies, such as Oracle and Salesforce, are developing products aimed at both businesses and consumers. The social Internet of Things (SIoT) is an offshoot of the IoT where social relationships are established among objects, things, and people and where social graphs are created. Looking at it in a different way, it's where social networking meets the IoT. This special issue is dedicated to the SIoT and social clouds. It also includes a range of columns and departments, by both our regular columnists and guest experts in the field.
