Abstract
The well-known Lennard-Jones potential is modified in such a way that it smoothly vanishes at a certain distance. A system whose interparticle interaction is given by such a potential is referred to as a modified Lennard-Jones system, and is served as a standard system describing simple solids and fluids. A phase diagram is determined based on the free energies obtained through thermodynamic integration. © 2010 IOP Publishing Ltd.
