Abstract

This study aims to investigate the influential factors shaping furniture purchase intentions for eco-smart homes in Beijing, China, with a focus on the mediating roles of environmental attitudes and perceived value of eco-friendly furniture. Twenty-five semi-structured interviews were conducted with residents of eco-smart homes in Beijing, China. The interviews were analyzed using thematic analysis to explore the relationships between perceived eco-smart home features, environmental attitudes, perceived value, and furniture purchase intentions. The findings reveal that perceived eco-smart home features significantly influence furniture purchase intentions among residents of eco-smart homes. Environmental attitudes and the perceived value of eco-friendly furniture mediate this relationship, highlighting the importance of psychological factors in driving sustainable consumption behaviors. This research contributes to understanding consumer behavior in eco-smart homes and informs strategies for promoting environmentally friendly lifestyles. By uncovering the motivations and decision-making processes driving furniture purchase decisions, the study offers insights into how individuals can contribute to environmental sustainability through their consumption choices.
