Abstract

This research conducted by analyzing similarities and differences of phoneme changes on Japanese and Indonesian reduplication process. The purpose of this research is to find out the similarities and differences of vowel phoneme and consonant phoneme changes on Japanese and Indonesian reduplication process. This research is qualitative research, using the contrastive analysis with descriptive metods. Object of research is vowel phoneme and consonant phonem that change on Japanese and Indonesian reduplication process. Result of this study indicates that the vowel changes on reduplication process do not have similarities, but the consonant has, that is consonant changes of /k/, /s/, and /h/ on Japanese and Indonesian that turns out to be a plosive consonant. In addition, the consonant phonem changes occur at the beginning of the word that has repetition. And the differences are the vowel phonem on Japanese reduplication process does not have changes but Indonesian reduplication process has. The /r/ consonant of Japanese does not have changes, but Indonesian does. In general, not all nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs of Japanese can not be repetited, but Indonesian can be repetited and has a plural meaning.
