Abstract

Contemporary Muslim societies face significant moral and spiritual challenges, including declining ethical values and the rise of secularism and materialism. Bediuzzaman Said Nursi attributes these problems to the weakening of belief in Allah (s.w.t.) and the hereafter, which erodes virtues such as justice, honesty, and social responsibility. This study seeks to answer: How does Nursi's interpretation of the Divine Names (al-Asma al-Husna) provide an epistemological and moral framework for truly recognising Allah (s.w.t.) and countering contemporary moral decline? The research employs a qualitative approach using thematic content analysis on selected texts from the Risale-i Nur Collection. The findings show that contemplation on al-Asma al-Husna develops a deep connection with Allah (s.w.t.), instilling a sense of love, fear, and accountability, thus promoting moral integrity. This study emphasizes the importance of Nursi's approach in addressing contemporary moral crises in Muslim societies. It contributes to Islamic thought by offering a systematic model of theological ethics derived directly from al-Asma al-Husna teachings.
