Abstract
Research Aims: This study aims to analyze the effect of person-job fit on employee engagement with job satisfaction as an intervening variable. This research is based on the problem of decreasing employee engagement levels in an outdoor activity retail company, PT.XYZ, which is indicated to be influenced by organizational restructuring and job rotation. Design/methodology/approach: This research is a quantitative study using a survey method. The population consists of permanent employees of PT. XYZ in Bandung, Indonesia. A purposive sampling technique was employed, resulting in a sample size of 80 respondents. Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) was used for data analysis. Research Findings: The findings reveal that person-job fit has no direct effect on employee engagement. However, person-job fit significantly and positively affects job satisfaction. Furthermore, job satisfaction significantly and positively affects employee engagement. Job satisfaction is also proven to mediate the relationship between person-job fit and employee engagement. Theoretical Contribution/Originality: This study contributes to the literature on employee engagement by emphasizing the mediating role of job satisfaction in the relationship between person-job fit and employee engagement.
