Abstract
The strontium nitridocuprate(I) nitride carbodiimide has been successfully produced and characterised. Single crystals were grown in metal ampoules, utilising an alkali metal as a fluxing agent. Structural characterisation was conducted via single-crystal X-ray diffraction and the identity of the [CN2]2– anion as carbodiimide was confirmed by Raman spectroscopy. Diamagnetic behaviour over a large temperature range supports the copper(I) electronic state.
