Legenda Asal Mula Reog Kendang Tulungagung sebagai Ide Penciptaan Batik Lukis pada Selendang

Abstract

Abstract: Tulungagung is one of the regencies located in East Java province which is famous for its culture. One of the manifestations of this culture is the Reog Kendang dance. There is a story of the origin of the creation of this Reog Kendang dance, where many people do not know the origin of the creation of this art and the meaning contained in each of its dance movements. This background becomes the basis for the work to introduce legendary stories that have a moral message contained and there are character values that can be known. The purpose of this creation is to describe the concept of the idea of creating painted batik with the theme of Reog Kendang on a scarf, explore the process of creating painted batik and visualize painted batik on a scarf with the theme of Reog Kendang. The creation of painted batik uses the method of crafting art by SP Gustami which consists of stages of exploration, design, and realization. The results of the creation are six painted batik works with the title; Dewi Kilisuci, Mandat Sang Prabu, Titah Sang Dewi, Jenggala, Reog Kendang, and Terperdaya. Salah satu wujud kebudayaan tersebut yaitu kesenian tari Reog Kendang. Terdapat kisah asal mula terciptanya tari Reog Kendang yang masyarakat belum ketahui, seperti asal mula terciptanya kesenian ini dan makna yang terkandung pada setiap gerakan tarinya. Latar belakang tersebut menjadi landasan dalam berkarya guna mengenalkan kisah legenda yang memiliki pesan moral yang terkandung serta terdapat nilai karakter yang dapat diketahui. Tujuan penciptaan ini adalah memvisualisasikan konsep ide penciptaan batik lukis bertemakan Reog Kendang pada selendang serta mengeksplorasi proses penciptaan batik lukis. Metode penciptaan yang digunakan adalah metode seni kriya oleh SP Gustami yang terdiri dari tahap eksplorasi, perancangan dan perwujudan. Hasil pencipatan berupa enam karya batik lukis dengan judul; Dewi Kilisuci, Mandat Sang Prabu, Titah Sang Dewi, Jenggala, Reog Kendang, dan Terperdaya.
