tThetobjectivetoftatventilationtnetworktsystemtisttotprovidetthetdesiretquantitytoftairflowsthroughouttthetminetsuchthattheworkers cant workt underground int atsafet andt healthy environmenttattthetleveltspecifiedtbytthetminingtregulations.Incoaltminestheventilationnetworktsystemthastatgreatertimpactontsafetytandtproduction.tTheselectionstoftminetfantandtairtquantitytcalculationtattdifferent working placest aret generally deci-dedtbysolvingtthetventilationtnetworktusingtiterativetHardyCrosstmethodIntthistresearchtantapproachwastadoptedttosimulatingthetventilationtnetworktconsideringttheairwaysresistancestastuncertaintvariables.tAtMonte-Carlotsimulation-basedtapproachtwas followedttotgeneratetrandomtsettofresistancetvaluestfromtthetdistributiontfunctionstofttheairwaystresistances.tTheVENTSIMtsoftwaretwastusedttotsolvetthetHardyCrosstmethodtforventilationnetworksimulationtusingonesetofrandomtresistancevalues.tThetMonteCarlosimulationtbasedapproachthelpsttotanalysistthetuncertaintytoftairtquantitytatspecifictworkingfacesastwelltastotaltquantitytrequiredtforventilatingtthetmine.tThetmajortfocustoftthetthesistis towardsthetquantitytoftairtintthetworkingtfacetgeneratedbytthetminemaintfantandtthetriskinvolvetwithtthetselectiontoftminetmainfantfortatcoaltmine.ThetmethodologytfortthetventilationtnetworkdesigntproposedtintthistthesistwastappliedtinaundergroundcoalminetintEasterntparttoftIndia.tThetairwaystresistancestarecalculatedtbymeasuringtthetvaluestattdifferenttplacestintsameairways.tThetmeantandtstandardtdeviationtused fortMonte-CarlosimulationtassumingthedistributiontistGaussian.Atotaltnumbertoft71tairwaysaretsimulatedtintthetcasetstudytmine.Atrisktanalysistoftquantitytoftairtreachingattfacetwasperformedatttwotworkingtfacestbytgeneratingt200trealizationstThetresultsintthistthesistwasvalidatedtmytmeasuringtquantityatdifferentmeasuringtstationtintthistmine.
