Abstract

Zoetanya aims to contextualise some of the learning challenges of teaching social media in the classroom. The study uses Facebook’s interactions with Cambridge Analytica to explore the importance of personal data collection in social media and ‘surveillance capitalism’. It gives practical advice, and examples of different approaches to teaching these topics that other lecturers will find useful.
