Abstract

Since years, CNES (French Space Agency) has invested on satellite and ground wideband technologies toward the goal of Improving attractiveness of broadband satellite services. The efforts of an agency like CNES have been focused on system and satellite design and Research and Development activities in order to enable the development by the commercial field of operational broadband systems. A complete design process including phase A, phase B, R&D has been lead by CNES with European industry in 200-1 and early 2005 (Alcatel Alenia Space and EADS Astrium). The objective of the article is to go further on some technical results showing our end to end approach including: system and payload design and performances, system validation through generic hardware test benches, R&D main technological developments.
