"Importance of the Fishing Industry in Peru, an approach towards its sustainable development"

Abstract

Fishing has been for many years a fundamental pillar in the economy of Perú, being a key axis for its development. Fishmeal is an important food in the livestock and aquaculture industry, being of great interest worldwide, this has led to it being the most exported product of marine origin, generating foreign exchange income to the Peruvian economy. The depredation of the sea and the mismanagement of resources have caused a sustainability problem in the sector, generating the need for measures to control it. The Peruvian State, together with institutions in charge of ensuring the proper management of the industry, carry out arduous inspection and control tasks with measures such as closures, minimum size and fishing gear. However, there are some factors that still need to be analyzed and controlled in order to ensure 100% sustainable fishing, hopefully as soon as possible. For this research, a bibliographic search was carried out based on articles indexed in magazines, news, state legal bases, official information from websites, etc., in addition, a structured interview was carried out with an official of the fishing industry from the south of Peru.
