Abstract
Introduction: Nutrition problems occur in children of all ages, their nature reflects the age and stage of development where an eating disorder may also be related to some somatic disease, heartburn, or food allergy. Objective: to analyze the hematological parameters in populations with malnutrition, Methodology: a documentary design research of descriptive scope was carried out through a bibliographic review using scientific databases such as Scielo, Redalyc, PubMed, NHI Library, Science Direct, and official pages such as the World Health Organization, the United Nations Organization, and the Pan American Health Organization. Results: it was found that in Ecuador there were various prevalence rates since over the years this problem has been decreasing, finding that until 2024 its prevalence ranged around 25%, for its part Cuba was one of the countries with the highest prevalence rate 48.6%. As for the hematological parameters that are mainly affected are the mean corpuscular volume, mean corpuscular hemoglobin, these tend to be decreased in turn, the blood count, ferritin are the tests most used for the diagnosis of the same. Conclusion: in childhood, various alterations may occur that may affect the nutritional status, where the most common is usually malnutrition, that is why through the evaluation and identification of the same we can find the deficiencies and excesses that are present in the daily diet.
