Abstract

ultiple experimental studies have highlighted the potential role that epigenetic alterations may play in the onset and stabilization of diseases. These investigations have led to the emergence of a new discipline known as epigenetic epidemiology. This paper has two fundamental aims. Firstly, to analyze and clarify the main epistemological, ontological, and methodological difficulties faced by the articulation of this new scientific discipline. Secondly, to articulate an alternative and innovative philosophical framework based on scientific pluralism that will ultimately allow epigenetic epidemiology to be integrated into current medical practice.
