Abstract

The effectiveness of transit-oriented development (TOD) may depend on minimizing residential dissatisfaction among inhabitants of TOD communities. This research aimed to identify factors linked to residential dissatisfaction by examining aspects like TOD metrics, travel patterns, and sociodemographic attributes in New Delhi, India. An ordered logit model was utilized, incorporating both primary and secondary data. The increasing neighborhood dissatisfaction, highlighting the need for policies that address these inequalities. The study also emphasized the importance of accommodating the needs of larger households to lessen dissatisfaction. Key factors such as population density, mixed land use, and proximity to transit proved vital in enhancing residents' satisfaction. The study noted that travel distance for educational purposes, frequency of trips for work and shopping, and reliance on private vehicles for commuting contribute to increased residential dissatisfaction. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
