The role of the health care system in primordial prevention

Abstract

The health care system has the resources to assume an important role in primordial prevention. The extent to which it does so will be determined largely by the financial and economic forces that are transforming the health care system. There is reason to be optimistic about the effectiveness of a partnership between community-based organizations and medical centers in addressing the challenges of primordial prevention in the 21st Century. © 1999 American Health Foundation and Academic Press.
