Abstract

We investigated the usefulness of radiofrequency catheter ablation in preventing arrhythmia recurrences in 124 patients with a previous myocardial infarction and recurrent, hemodynamically tolerated ventricular tachycardia. The relationship between immediate and long-term results was investigated prospectively. Suppression of any sustained ventricular tachycardia was obtained in 73% of the patients; success was partial in 17% and failed in 10%. Event-free analysis showed a significantly lower ventricular tachycardia recurrence only in patients with a successful ablation procedure (P = .01).
