The article focuses on the U.S. district court in Washington D.C.'s decision to side with David Schorer, a soon-to-be female-to-male transsexual, who's legal name is Diane Schroer. She was about to undergo sex-reassignment surgery but her bosses at the U.S. Library of Congress revoked the offer, but the court ruled that she was discriminated against on the basis of sex. It was the first time a transgender person had won a lawsuit in such a manner. Information on arguments put forth by the American Civil Liberties Union is also provided.
