Abstract
This paper describes the results of a survey conducted with 262 students of Pharmacy and Biology , from various parts of Brazil , on the topic Medicinal Plants and Phytotherapy . Questionnaires were given to issues relating to personal data of each student and issues related to , for example: a) why the student was interested in Medicinal Plants and Phytotherapy ? b ) student should cite five plants most knowledgeable and / or used . The survey results showed that students in Pharmacy and Biology recognize the importance of Medicinal Plants and Herbal Medicine for their future performance as professionals and have an interest in improving this area of knowledge . The high frequency of students who considered phytotherapy more effective than conventional drugs and the low frequency of those medicinal plants associated to the richness of Brazilian biodiversity results were worrying . One bright spot was the large number of citations of medicinal plants that have a validation study , as the most widely known and used . Interesting to consider that the disciplines of Biology and Pharmacy courses , dealing with the issue , ‑ focus on the study of medicinal plants already known and used by students , enabling the ‑ ‑ in technical scientific each species and their products .
