Water samples from forty wells in east-central and central Texas aquifers were collected. Through analysis of the samples, the factors influencing the distribution of methane in Texas ground water were determined. Overall, the results show that water samples from both regions exhibit a positive correlation between sulfate concentration and the 13C/12C ratio of methane, suggesting that methane oxidation may be associated with sulfate reduction in Texas ground water.
