The Contact Angle Hysteresis Puzzle

Abstract

This short review explains the essence of the theory of contact angle hysteresis. It empha-sizes the controversial points and discusses the shortcomings of contact angle hysteresis measure-ments. The review ends with conclusions regarding the improvements that are required to make these measurements useful for the characterization of surface wettability.
