Abstract

Communication is the essence of life. Simple, everyday communication is taken for granted by most people. People communicate for a range of reasons: from expressing their needs and wants to engaging in social closeness. Communication can be achieved a myriad of ways, but spoken communication remains the natural medium for interactive communication. Interactive communication using speech also relies on the ability to hearany restriction of either channel will have a negative impact on an individual’s ability to interact.
