Abstract

Antimicrobial peptides and proteins (AMPs) are tools of the innate immune system employed at injury sites to protect the host from invading microbes and to promote wound repair. In this issue, Roupé et al. characterize epidermal innate immune responses induced by skin injury and the involvement of EGFR for distinct AMPs and IL-8 induction. © 2010 The Society for Investigative Dermatology.
