Abstract

Starting transients are periods of marked change, and have an important effect upon perception of musical instrument sound. Using the Bradford Musical Instrument Simulator, the sound components which contribute to starting transients can be manipulated under precise controlso that their roles can be examined. The paper focuses upon starting transients of organ tones.
