Abstract

The study represents an overview of the international research agenda related to the concept of the global energy transition. The metadata of reviews and research articles from the Scopus database for 1991 to 2021 were collected and investigated with methods of scientometric analysis. The built document co-citation network with detected clusters recovers an evolution of the main research topics along the considered period. Research front as a set of emerging and expanding topics was identified and reviewed. The frontier topics focus on multifaceted integration - technological, infrastructural, organizational, sectoral, etc. This integration draws the attention of researchers to the challenges of intelligent management of future energy systems while maintaining low-carbon targets for the energy transition with sustainable economic growth.
