Abstract

Individual car transport is currently the worst sector regarding greenhouse gas emissions. Electric vehicles are considered as an alternate solution to conventional cars that can contribute to a decarbonization of the transport sector. The aim of this paper is to analyze the prospects of different types of electric vehicles. In this context, it is particularly important to investigate their economics and environmental impact compared to conventional vehicles. Finally, current policies and supporting measures, used to increase the market share of electric vehicles in different countries, are discussed.
