Abstract

Addition of 200 mM sodium ascorbate as an antioxidant to Rogstad's saturated NaCl-CTAB preservative extends the range of plant species from which good-quality DNA can be obtained without cryogenic transport and storage. The improved preservative is conveniently sent to collectors as a pre-weighed dry mix requiring only the addition of hot water.
