Abstract

Some 4-aryl-2,6-di(coumarin-3-yl)pyridines 3a-r are synthesized by the reaction of 3-coumarinoyl methyl pyridinium salts 1a-c with appropriate 1-[2H-1-benzopyran-2-on-3-yl]-3-aryl-prop-2-en-1-ones 2a-f in the presence of ammonium acetate and acetic acid under the Kröhnke reaction conditions. All the synthesized compounds are screened for antimicrobial activity. © ARKAT USA, Inc.
