Abstract

This study aims at, in a very condensed way, address fundamental matters about growth rates and conditions for Brazil to undertake some sustainable economic, technological, and socio-cultural development. Brazil has been stagnated in the past twenty-five years because, implicitly or explicitly, its economic teams have been dominated by the neoliberal ideology and resulting policies that have privileged monetary stability rather than development. The country needs to keep a growth rate of at least six percent for the next twenty years to overcome its underdevelopment. Not doing so will deem it to a condition of mere segment of the international market in a short term. It is necessary to combine an ample reform of its electoral and party system with a scope of energetic actions to promote autonomous national development, inserted in a framework of South American integration based onto a trustworthy and reciprocally benefic Argentinean-Brazilian alliance.
