Abstract

Changes in the condition of the earth lately are increasingly worrying. As a result, many disasters occur suddenly. This is very dangerous for the sustainability of future generations. The community must have sustainability awareness so that they can take part in reducing the problems that occur. One of them is through Educational for Sustainable Development (ESD). This study aims to look at the profile of sustainability awareness of junior high school students in Riau Province. In addition, this research will also identify the level of sustainability awareness of students based on gender. This survey was conducted at 3 junior high schools with a total sample of 180 students. The results showed that students' sustainability awareness had an average of 0.82 or 81.96% in the excellent category. Students' awareness of sustainable practice is the lowest compared to the other two categories. In addition, it turns out that gender does not affect students' awareness of sustainability, but rather the extent to which students understand sustainability problems and how strong they want to be able to apply the awareness in everyday life.
