Abstract

This research used a combined qualitative and quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The data collection techniques are listening and note-taking techniques. The data analysis technique in this study is based on six language error procedures, namely data collection, data identification, data classification, determination of the frequency of error distribution, identification of error areas, and error correction. The results show that syntactic errors in the learners' tasks are more dominant in sentence construction compared to phrase construction. Errors in sentence construction were recorded at 76.92%, much higher than phrase construction which only reached 23.08%. The comparison shows that learners tend to have more difficulties in constructing sentences than phrases. This finding provides important insights for the development of BIPA learning materials, especially in improving the ability to build phrases and sentences effectively.
