Phytochemistry and total phenolic content of methanol extract of Pometia pinata J.R. Forst. & G. Forst. fruit flesh from Papua, Indonesia

Abstract

The Pometia pinnatafruitflesh from Papua, Indonesiaiswidely used in traditional medicine has beenextracted. The extraction has used the solventof methanol, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane. The yield of extraction in methanol, ethyl acetate, and n-hexanewere21.65%, 2.92%and 0.91%. Qualitative analysis ofphytochemicalconstituents in methanol were tannins, phenolicand steroid, morecompletecontents of secondary metabolite, compared to those of n-hexane and ethyl acetate extracts. Quantitativeanalysis for total phenolic compound was393.38±0.28 mg gallic acid equivalent (GAE.g-1).
