Abstract

The synthesis of bicyclo[2.2.2]octane patchouli alcohol analogues by the Sakurai conjugate addition and Nagata cyclization is described. By this approach, complementary to those so far adopted and based on the Diels-Alder addition, known analogues 2, 3 and 20 and new analogues 8-11, with 1-isopropylbicyclo[2.2.2]octane structure, could be obtained. The olfactory properties of 8 and 10 were also evaluated. ©ARKAT USA, Inc.
