Abstract

Axisymmetric free vibration of a drop in partial contact with a circular solid support is analysed under the conditions of zero gravity and negligible viscous effects. It is assumed that the axial gradient of pressure is uniform everywhere in the vibrating drop and the lowest eigenmode is obtained. The theoretical results for different radii of the support are compared with the computed results of Sterni and Sabetta and also with the experimental results of Bisch, Lasek and Rodot. © 1988 The Japan Society of Applied Physics.
