Integration of lung cancer screening into practice is lacking

Abstract

The article discusses a study from the National Lung Screening Trial (NLST) which showed that the implementation of lung cancer screening guidelines is lacking among primary care physicians. Topics discussed include the inclusion of low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) of the chest for the early detection of lung cancer in patients 55 years above with a significant smoking history and the primary care providers' (PCP) lack of knowledge on the benefits of LDCT screening for lung cancer.
